SHORT GLACIER HIKE

2.5 HOURS

  • A simple, short hike on the south coast’s favourite glacier.
  • A certified Glacier Guide will take you safely through the icy labyrinth of this glacial tongue.
  • Your guide will give information about the glacier as well taking you to some amazing crevasse fields and other spectacular glacial formations.
  • There will be plenty of opportunities for photos!
  • Located a little over 2 hours outside of Reykjavik by car, you will find Road 221.
  • Following this will take you to a car park at the entrance of a magnificent glacial valley.
  • This is where you’ll meet your guide.

Included: helmet, harness, crampons, ice axe
Not Included: Weatherproof clothing, hiking boots (both are necessary to participate on this hike)

LONG GLACIER HIKE

3.5 HOURS

  • A longer, more strenuous version of the short hike.
  • You get an extra hour on the ice which will allow you to visit areas most people never get the chance to see or experience.
  • Located a little over 2 hours outside of Reykjavik by car, you will find Road 221.
  • Following this will take you to a car park at the entrance of a magnificent glacial valley.
  • This is where you’ll meet your guide.

Included: helmet, harness, crampons, ice axe
Not Included: Weatherproof clothing, hiking boots (both are necessary to participate on this hike)

ICE CLIMBING & GLACIER HIKE

4.5 HOURS

  • A combo tour that includes a short hike on the glacier with an easy introduction to ice climbing.
  • Your certified glacier guide will lead you through the glacier to a climbing wall where they will set up a climbing rope and teach you the basic techniques of ice climbing.
  • From there you will scale the wall and grab a few pictures to show off to your friends and family back home!

Included: helmet, harness, crampons, ice axe
Not Included: Weatherproof clothing, hiking boots (both are necessary to participate on this hike)

GLACIER LAGOON KAYAKING

2 HOURS - SUMMER ONLY

  • Come see these majestic ice giants from another perspective.
  • A certified kayak guide will equip you with a dry suit and PFD before teaching you the basics of kayaking.
  • The “sit-on-top” kayaks are extremely stable and very easy to paddle with. No previous kayaking experience is necessary!
  • Your guide will lead you around the frigid glacial lagoon towards icebergs and the terminal face of the glacier.

Included: Drysuit, Neoprene Gloves, and Boots.
Not Included: Waterproof protection for electronics (smartphones, cameras, etc.)

GLACIER PANORAMA TRAIL

5 HOURS

  • A true hidden gem on the south coast of Iceland.
  • Once an old sheepherding trail, the local owners of the land have opened this tour up to the public for the first time.
  • On clear days, witness incredible views of the massive volcanoes ‘Katla’ and ‘Eyjafjallajökull’ as well as the glaciers ‘Mýrdalsjökull’ and ‘Sólheimajökull’.
  • On the horizon, you can even see the vast volcanic black sand beach and the Westmann Island archipelago.
  • This hike can be tricky at times and is recommended for those who already have plenty of mountain hiking experience.
  • Located a little over 2 hours outside of Reykjavik by car, you will find Road 221.
  • Following this will take you to a car park at the entrance of a magnificent glacial valley.
  • This is where you’ll meet your guide.
    You’ll be transported to the other glacier base at Mýrdalsjökull where you’ll then be taken up the mountainside in a specially equipped glacier truck.
  • At about 750m above sea level, the hike begins. The hike is mostly downhill and takes you back to your car at the Sólheimajökull car park.

Included: No equipment is provided on this tour.
Not Included: Weatherproof clothing, Hiking Boots (both are necessary to participate in this hike), Walking Poles, Food, and Water (there are streams to fill up bottles if necessary).
